Can you let him actually get to number 10 before you start to undermine what you think may happen. Can we just let him get on with it for a while and then judge, because I'm sick of this revolving door of politics perpetuated by you and your like.
When Labour MPs wake up, sweating, from their Johnson (or Truss) fever dream (a truly terrifying prospect), as their subconscious contemplates the fact that they have just junked their leader in favour of the messianic saviour that they don’t really know much about, they should spend a few minutes staring at a picture of Mark Carney. He was the outsider brought in to save the Canadian Liberal Party when it was 20 points behind in the polls and about to face a crushing defeat to the Conservatives in the election last year. He wasn’t even an MP when they decided to make him PM (who‘d have thought that would be a good idea?). He comfortably won the next election and the liberal party is still 8 points ahead in the polls.
It’s typical of the media and especially news reporters to kick someone down before they have even started. He (Burnham ) has the guts to say what he thinks straight from the start . I hope and pray that he does carry through what he says and make a start on putting things right .
They have to fill their 24 hour round the clock chat shows and phone ins and and get the clicks on their websites and listeners to their podcasts. They do this by creating perceived problems and issues and generate a reality show style popularity contest where they ask you who want voted out next. It's sickening.
Would you think that locally elected councils/mayors know best if like Reform in Wakefield they want to remove public sector employees/services and council tax completely with no regard for the consequences? How about devolve the power to close asylum seeker accomodation and give housing priority to 'white British' people?
Stop gaslighting Burnham with specious scuttlebut disguised as journalism. Poor show. I'm a Green Party member and ex political journalist myself. Even I can see that something good is happening here. Have you read Burnham's book, Robert? It will shock you.
Have we become so used to crushing absence of hope now that 'journalists' today just automatically pull everything down? Where are the quotes btw? Poor show.
Andy Burnham’s premise is every area deserves someone like him. And then our hearts will sing. But London has its own mayor and our hearts are not singing.

And breathe.
